TOOL FOR DRAWING SHEAR AND MOMENT DIAGRAMS FOR A SIMPLY-SUPPORTED BEAM

Built by William Martin for classes at the New York Institute of Technology.

Drag the body of a point load left and right to change its position. Drag the small circle at the end of a point load to change the load. The left, right, and top edges of uniformly distributed loads can be adjusted. The supports can also be moved left and right for cantilevers. You can also drag the right side of the beam to make it longer or shorter. You may have to adjust the rightmost support first to shorten the beam. Add as many loads as you like.

This applet is of course only for educational purposes and should not be used for actual structural use. So far, only the most extreme calculation for moment is given in the moment diagram, and that value is approximate. All values are approximate, but that one more than the others...
